National Dog Day - 18 Shops That Can Make It Extra Special!
With National Dog Day around the corner, we figure it’s a good time to spoil the pups a bit more than usual. Here are some ideas for awesome pup swag and nomz, all compliments of small businesses!
Attire (sometimes more!)

You might have a favorite shirt, right? You’ll go back to that shirt as often as possible and loath the day when it’s in the laundry. Featuring designer and vintage fabrics, Mutt Cloth bandanas are handcrafted in NY. They have awesome collections of prints that are unique and would look gorgeous on any pup!
This Missouri-based shop sells gorgeous bandanas! Something about all of their prints makes us feel cozy and warm! They also sell some other products, like placements for pet food bowls and a poop bag holder.
You know the feeling you get when you show up to work in a new outfit that you know looks good? Well, you can give your pup the same feeling with any one of Le Shoob’s sporty products. As an added bonus, they offer a rescue line which donates 20% of each purchase to organizations helping to save pups who just need a second chance!

Looking at Howl’s Pots beautiful designs makes me wish it were fall. A crisp breeze, leaves turning color, maybe even a light frost on the ground would be the perfect setting for Barak and SoomSoom to get dressed up in a chic sweater from this Seoul-based company. They’re perfect for a strut around the neighborhood before a snuggle in one of Howl’s Howly beds (if they made a human version, I’d also give it a shot)!
Other Accessories
We’re biased, but we think our TreatTeek treat pouches are pretty great for pups and pup-pawrents! If you’re anything like us, you’ve had the experience of trying to pull treats out of a plastic bag, dropping it, and then winding up with your treats scattered across the sidewalk and your dog frantically yanking you this way and that as they rush to vacuum them all up. They sell amazing, rugged leashes that will keep up with all of the adventures you and your pup take! And there is more: they donate a tree to the National Forest Foundation for each leash purchased! Go buy a leash and plant a tree!
We feel like our pups carry us through our daily lives with their love and support. Unfortunately, we may need to return the favor sometimes! If you’re on a hike and your pup is struggling or if they’ve recently been injured and can’t get around like normal, you can give them a lift with Ruff Rescue’s carrier harness!
From Switzerland, Tundrada sells beautiful dog tags made from shed reindeer antlers. They’re currently sold out, but keep an eye out for when they’re back in stock because these tags are beautiful and bring a little bit of the wild outdoors to your pup’s collar!
You, like us, probably take two backpacks when you go for hikes; one pack is for you and one pack is for your dog (actually, if you’re like us, you fit your stuff around your dog’s stuff that takes up two packs). Snacks
About half of our freezer space is devoted to Naked Beasts goodies - aside from ice cream, we couldn’t imagine a better use of space. About two years ago we decided to start feeding the pups more raw snacks and a friend recommended Naked Beasts. We’re so glad that we heard about them because their selection is amazing and the pups love everything we’ve given them (with one exception - Barak was scared of his bison ear...but this was extremely amusing for us, so definitely worth it). Some of Barak and SoomSoom’s favorites: shrimps, goat trotters, sardines, duck feet...pretty much everything.
An added bonus: Naked Beasts also has candles, adorable stickers, and regularly donates to amazing causes!
Check out Si’s Pet Pantry for a great selection of high quality treats and chews. We love using their chews when we’re getting back home from running errands - we’ve learned that the best way to calm Barak down is to send him to his place and have him stay for a yummy treat.
